2 x 917/30 Can Am 917/30  5.4Litre Sunoco Cars !!!

[Chassis 917/30-002 Porsche Museum & Chassis 917/30-004(Drendl)]

Can you believe this photo, this is 2 of the awesome 917/30 cars that dominated Can Am in the early '70s. One of the drivers is Roger Penske who ran the Porsche Can Am team when Mark Donahue won the championship. This was apparently the first time Roger had ever driven 917/30 !!

Thanks to Bill Gregory for the photo.

917/30 at Rennsport 917/30-002  5.4Litre Sunoco Car (Porsche Museum)

A fantastic photo of one of the awesome 917/30 seen at Rennsport 2001. You can tell it is the  museum car by the fact that it doesn't have a race number.

Thanks to Bob Ross for the photo.

917/30 @ Rennsport 917/30 (not sure which chassis !)

Another great photo of this awesome car at the Rennsport reunion 2001

Thanks to Neal Bevilacqua  for the photo.

917K Hippy Car 917K (Chassis 917-021) Martini "Hippy" car. [Owned by Don Marsh]

This car was purchased by Don Marsh when it came up for sale in the mid 1990's. Apparently the paint scheme was hated at the Porsche factory when it was first raced !!

Thanks to Bill Gregory for the photo.

917K Martini 917 K (Chassis 917-020). [Currently owned by Frank Gallogly]

This car is currently for sale (@ Symbolic) as Frank, the owner has recently purchased a second 917 !! He now also owns 917-022 which was used in the film Le Mans and was owned for many years by Richard Attwood.

The car is chassis 917-020, originally painted in Salzburg colours, but as you can see has now been re-painted in Martini colours. This car won Sebring in 1971.

Thanks to Bill Gregory for the photo.

917K Martini (Franks) 917 K (Chassis 917-020). [Currently owned by Frank Gallogly]

Another great photo of Franks Martini 917, who stands beside the car looking on at the lucky man who is about to drive his car !! This car is stored at Gunnar racing, who also maintain it.

Thanks to Bob Ross for the photo.

917/10 917/10  (Chassis 917/10-007) 5.0 Litre from 1972. [Owned by Brumos]

The 917/10 was an awesome car that was very effective in the Can Am championship in the 1970s. This car was originally raced by Brumos when new, and then sold to Vasek Polak. Brumos re-purchased the car in the mid-90's

Thanks to Bill Gregory for the photo.

917K (chassis 18) 917 K (Chassis 917-018). [Owned by Chuck Stoddard]

This photo clearly shows how compact the 917 really is - about half the height of a 911, the same length but at least twice the power !! This car was raced by Alex Soler Roig in the 1970s.

Thanks to Joe for the photo.

917 K (no details of chassis number)

Another great photo of the 917 in classic Gulf Colours, see here at  Rennsport 2001

Thanks to Neal Bevilacqua  for the photo.
